JAMMU, Aug 13: Leading healthcare provider in Delhi, BLK-Max Super Specialty Hospital, today launched its Gastroenterology & Liver Transplant OPD Services in Jammu, in partnership with the city-based Center for Liver and Digestive Diseases (CLDD), Jammu.
The OPD services were launched by Dr Ajay Kumar, Chairman – Gastroenterology & Hepatology- Pan Max & HoD – BLK-Max Institute for Digestive & Liver Diseases, Dr Manav Wadhawan – Senior Director – Gastroenterology & Hepatology, Dr Neha Berry (Consultant, Gastroenterology & Hepatology, BLK-Max Super Specialty Hospital) and Dr Adnan Rafiq (Managing Director, CLDD Jammu).
During the launch of the OPD, Dr Ajay Kumar said, “Damage to the liver progresses gradually and the patient begins to show symptoms only when over 70% of the liver has become dysfunctional. Therefore, the diagnosis of early-stage liver disease and treatment with correct strategies is pivotal to treat it successfully if irreversible liver damage has not yet occurred.”

Talking about the prevalence of liver diseases, Dr Manav Wadhawan said, “The early symptoms of liver failure include nausea, loss of appetite, fatigue and diarrhea. Liver cirrhosis is a condition in which chronic damage to the liver causes scar tissues to replace healthy liver tissues. An ultrasound diagnosis of the liver is usually enough to ascertain the condition of the liver, effectively judge the degree of the disease and improve the condition in time”.
