Life Lately: Costume Ball – Kath Eats Real Food

Here’s a bit of life lately.

Fall has come and gone – the leaves are all off the trees!

This is cool in Cville because you can start to see the mountain views poke through. I sometimes forget we live in a mountain town!

Apple Harvest Festival

A few weeks ago we went with Thomas’s mom to the Albemarle Ciderworks Apple Harvest Festival!

Candid photo by Thomas

We had fun sipping cider, listening to music, eating kettle corn and going on a WILD hayride through the woods!

Watch the video here:

We went back to Nona + Grandpa’s for dinner and Birchie opened his birthday present, this T-Rex costume!!

This child really loves his costumes! He was a train conductor at a friend’s birthday party

Here’s his Davy Jones mask!

Scavenger Hunt

Birch was home sick with a cold and I try to keep a KiwiCo box on hand for rainy and sick days. Now that you can buy kits a la carte at Amazon, it’s easy to get a few to keep on hand without a subscription. I’m getting this dino head costume and this stuffed frog dissection kit.

We used the frog tape measure he made to measure all of Gus’s body parts!

Gus loved it!

The other kit Birch has been obsessed with is my 8 Days Of Jellies Advent set from Beautycounter! The box has taken quite a beating at this point.

He likes to try all of the flavors!

Mazen likes going in costume too – his hair is now BLUE!

Looking great after a trim with his brother and cousin:

Apparently colored hair is all the rage for the 4th grade.

But look! Here’s me at almost the same age.

(This was a Halloween costume, but still 🙂 )

Nuly

Speaking of costumes, our tropical vacation to Anguilla is coming up fast, and I ordered a Nuuly rental to get some tropical attire to wear. You can see me trying these on in video format here!

Athlete + Old Navy

I’ve been shopping the Black Friday sales early! I got some amazing joggers at Old Navy 50% off for $22 and this sports bra that is my new favorite. I have concluded that Old Navy is just Athleta at 25% of the price 🙂

However, there are things that only athletes have!! I got this cute romper on final sale for $34! It comes in black too – which I already have. And I finally invested in the Marlow Maxi dress in black that I’ve been wanting for a year when it went on sale 50% off.

Kath Eats Real Food

I’ve been loving cottage cheese with granola and fruit for breakfast.

This granola is by Rainbow Trout Kitchen out of Richmond, VA. It is fantastic and has strong notes of honey. They can ship nationwide – it would make a great gift for foodies who also love to fish for rainbow trout!

Coco Verde from The Juice Laundry

Vu Noodles Pho on a rainy day

Soup + Sandwich is the best combo

This soup was from whole foods and the sandwich made at home.

Blue Apron Meals

Note the pirate I dined with in the background!

Honey Panko Chicken with Cilantro Rice

Udon Noodles with Shrimp
Salmon with Romesco Sauce

Cilantro Chicken Rice Bowls

Pork Meatballs with Gnocchi and Salad

Hope you have an amazing, restful weekend!

Look at this sweet boy sleeping with the bears his brother gave him – tags still on <3

Don’t tell brother we’re in his room!

In tribute to Devin, Lavel and D’Sean

Lives lost forever because of one selfish act.

And hero Mike Hollins for his bravery to help others.
