Fitness studio chain Barry’s will open a permanent studio at 408 W. Second St. in downtown Austin on May 14.

The new studio location replaces the temporary site on North Lamar Boulevard, which opened a year ago.

“Following the overwhelming popularity of our Austin pop-up, we are thrilled to open a permanent studio, and continue to welcome new and old clients into the Red Room. Barry’s is big on community, and the new downtown location felt like a natural next step to grow our Fit Fam, welcoming a safe and inclusive space for all, ”Barry’s Global CEO Joey Gonzalez said.

The 6,700-square-foot studio space includes treadmills and floor spots for up to 56 clients at a time. It also includes a separate Flex Lounge with 17 spots for Barry’s Lift class, a strength-based class that incorporates dumbbells, resistance bands and bodyweight exercises. All this happens in what Barry’s studio calls its Red Room, a dimly lit room with a red glow that allows participants to focus on the cues from instructors.

The new location will operate a Fuel Bar that serves protein shakes and grab-and-go food items, an outdoor patio, a retail outlet selling workout clothing, and lockers and showers with amenities and hair dryers.

Barry’s, which has studios in 14 countries, has three locations in Texas with Houston and Dallas preceding Austin. Membership packages range from $ 32- $ 205, and clients can book sessions online.

Barry’s offers a variety of different workouts:

  • Lift — a 50-minute class focusing on strength training with monthly benchmarks;
  • Ride — a 50-minute class offering high-intensity interval training-style indoor cycling paired with strength conditioning, weighted exercises on the floor and bench; and
  • Barry’s X — a digital fitness community that features both live and on-demand classes.
