“I have definitely seen an improvement in other areas of my life especially in terms of attitude, productivity, motivation, and resilience.”

How many months’ progress do your pictures represent? What were your stats for each picture?

6 months. 203 lbs and 18% body fat to 170 lbs and 7% body fat.

What has happened so far on the program?

So far on the program I cut for 6 months straight with one or two diet breaks and deload periods. I lost about 30 pounds and 10% body fat. My strength progressed in all my compound lifts by about 20% more on the plates, and my form improved progressively.

I did not find I had to be too strict on everything but as long as I was consistent and followed the main principles I saw progress every few weeks in the mirror, and on paper.

What workout split from the book did you use?

I used the 5-day Bigger Leaner Stronger split for the majority of the period, even if I occasionally had busier weeks where I would veer into the 4- or 3-day splits.

What, if anything, almost kept you from buying the book or starting the program?

Nothing! I was excited to start and felt like the core knowledge given in the book made sense, even if I didn’t adhere to everything 100%.

What do you like most about the program?

I liked that it broke everything down in a way that gave me the tools I needed rather than any any magic formula. I prefer to understand why I am doing something and how it actually works, and Bigger Leaner Stronger really catered to my learning style and “stacked” well with previous knowledge I had accumulated. I had confidence in the scientific approach and the results definitely met my expectations.

How does this program compare with others you’ve tried?

I had never really tried other programs, except for taking “bit and pieces” from various sources in the past such as magazines, online articles/forums and various books. Bigger Leaner Stronger, gave me the most rational and truthful overview of the science behind fitness.

How has what you’ve achieved with your body changed other areas of your life?

I have definitely seen an improvement in other areas of my life especially in terms of attitude, productivity, motivation, and resilience. A major unexpected health effect is that I get far fewer headaches, which I was suffering from for many years and seems genetically predisposed in most my family who get either chronic headaches or migraines.

On the rare occasion that I do get one now, it isn’t as persistent and the cause is generally obvious such as bad sleep or dehydration. I feel less stressed in general, and have less aches and pains in by body including a recurring upper back “pinch” which is mostly gone.

Who would you recommend this program to and why?

I would recommend this program because it doesn’t take a pseudoscience approach and gives you the tools you need to make a lifestyle change that suits you. It doesn’t focus on cookie cutter methods, but rather informs you in a way that is most likely to stay with you for life and affect the way you think about nutrition, fitness, exercise and health including both physical and mental aspects.

Is there anything else you’d like to add?

I would recommend reading the book in a way that allows you to really absorb your own understanding (multiple times if necessary) and fit it into your own lifestyle. I also listened to the The Little Black Book of Workout Motivation, especially during walks and other phases of my journey so far. I find it strengthens my mental resolve and added well to the content in Bigger Leaner Stronger.

Did you use any Legion supplements?

I did! I used Pulse which is easily the best pre-workout I’ve used as it is effective for better workouts and doesn’t give me jitters. I’ve used the Casein which tastes great. One my favourite supplements has been Phoenix, which really helped in my final phase of cutting to speed up the burning of those last few percentages of body-fat while also staving off the cravings which started to creep in around that time.
