Some life lately, including when I had to do the BRAT diet.
Kath Eats The BRAT Diet
If you follow my Instagram Stories, you know our household got hit with a terrible, awful stomach bug last weekend. It hit me a week ago on Sunday and I was up all night with terrible GI symptoms. I could barely move on Monday morning! Then on Monday afternoon, Birch threw up for the very first time in his life. He had no idea what was happening, and it was so sad. By some miracle, he only threw up twice, the second time was just water. And Thomas and Mazen lived separate lives for a few days while I bleached the whole basement. So far, they haven’t gotten it. I haven’t been that sick in a decade since I had something similar when Mazen was an infant. Ugh!!
Sweet Birch woke up asking for the applesauce the next day, and I explained the BRAT diet to him: bananas, rice, applesauce, toast. The whole rest of the day, anytime he asked for something he asked me if it was “on his list.” I offered him a popsicle and he said “but mom, that’s not on my list!” It was very cute.
Thanks to our neighbors for sending over applesauce and ginger ale!! It took me almost all last week to eat normally again.
I had lots of breakfast foods and smoothies because the thought of salad was gross!
I went to Playa Bowls with friends for lunch:
Mazen and I walked downtown to get chicken noodle and potato soups for me, and pizza for him!
Epic Spring Weather!
We finally have some wonderful spring weather!!!! I cannot stress how nice it has been to be outside and not be cold. We’ve been playing soccer, four square, and newcomb in the yard!
Tell me you’re five without telling me : )
Look at that good boy enjoying some sunshine:
Bro Time Golfing
The boys have taken up golfing together which I am all about! Mazen decided not to play baseball this year, so he’s moved back into golf (he did the OP 36 program at Birdwood a year ago). When they played 9 holes last weekend, he was very good! Golf might be his thing, which makes Thomas’s heart sing because Thomas LIVES FOR GOLF! Haha. Birch is learning some too.
While they were golfing, I was at a baby sprinkle!
That cake was 100!
The Return of Bubble Tea
Bubble tea is an expensive, sugary habit, but the kids love it! We haven’t really been all winter, so we went on a warm day and got a trio of mango slushes.
My order is a Winter Melon, half sweet, with a milk foam cap and regular bubbles. It’s so good….until it’s not. Like scallops, I can only tolerate so much. Maybe it’s the texture of both?
Geometry Bath Towel
Geometry sent me one of their bath towels after I raved about the hand towels I got for the kitchen. It’s thin like a Turkish towel, and the texture is so great! They’d be great for packing in beach/pool bags, and are so pretty hanging up too. We are using it for the kids in their bathroom (since we have our S+L towels we love upstairs!)
Gaming
We finally got to try the Wordle game I bought with some friends who came over. It was SO FUN! You really need four players. One person is the “host” and comes up with a word and then drops on the green and yellow tiles. The other three are the guessers. We didn’t really keep score round over round, but the winner of each round got a big high five!
Onto another puzzle: Sloths!
I think it’s so interesting that our dining room table has turned into a gaming table. When we were dreaming up our renovation layout and were in the the stages where we might have created a new room to be a dining room, we didn’t know what we would use this space for. A game table was brought up, but I didn’t think we’d use it. I was wrong! This ended up a win-win because it’s still the dining room but it’s also now the puzzle and lego table. While I’m not thrilled to have stuff all over the table at all times, it’s so convenient and useful that I’ve gotten used to it.
Thursday Fun Day
I went with the acac peeps to Southern Crescent for some gumbo and a sazerac!
Spring Haircuts!
One for you…
One for me!
