The Backbone One (8/10, WIRED Recommends) is fantastic. Connect the Lightning connector in your iPhone, stretch the cursor over it, and play. The buttons and bumps feel comfortable and compact, and I respond very quickly, and there is plenty of support for PS Remote Play, Xbox Remote Play, and Steam Link, as well as Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, Google Stadia, and GeForce Now. Instead, even if you do not like mobile games, this little controller can turn your phone into a connector or PC. But experience may change your mind about a mobile game; I play Stardew Valley for a long time I forgot to play on my phone. The headphone jack is a good touch.

What really sets the Backbone One apart is its software selection. All this is free for the first year. I love a series of games that are supported by moderators as well as graphics only and edited within the game. There’s also an immersive voice chat and social networking site, as well as one Twitch integration and support in iOS Gaming Mode. ★ Alternative: The RiotPWR ESL ($ 70) is a very standard Xbox-enabled controller that connects to your iPhone via Lightning cable for uninterrupted and chargeable games. If you can get past the unfortunate ESL format (green and yellow), this is a solid game choice for iOS or remote playback from Xbox, PlayStation, or PC. It also has a port of headphones, and there is also an Android version.
