Actually Herman the Caterpillar!

Does anyone remember that summer camp song?!

Birch and I found this bright, beautiful caterpillar at the park last week. They became fast friends! I’ve never seen one this neon before. Can you imagine the butterfly it will be someday?

B was a little nervous to pick him up at first, but he turned brave.

Big Bro

Birch has always wanted to be like his big brother, but lately he’s wanting to be just like him. Matching shoes, hoodies, and even shorts at Old Navy he wanted because they were “just like Mazen’s.” We walked Mazen to his carpool spot before school one day.

Most of the time, Mazen is very sweet to Birch and they do play very well together. Mazen lets B try his big boy toys sometimes too. The Meta Quest 2 was Mazen’s birthday gift and it’s all he’s talked about for months. Gorilla tag anyone?! If you have a tween, it would make a trendy holiday gift.

Add a cousin to the mix and you have a full squad for games!

We all went to Brazos on a teacher workday and had a yummy lunch.

Halloween in full swing

The moment it turned October, the boys were all spiders and scary things.

They went to Spirit Halloween with Thomas this last weekend and I stayed home for a little post-soccer Sunday nap. This is how I woke up!

I learned my lesson about buying Halloween costumes in August. Won’t do that again! Mazen has already moved on to something way scarier. (Although I always think costumes are a good investment because they boys wear them over and over!)

Jellies Game

The only person who loves Jellies more than me is Birch. We have a game we play where we sniff the flavors and have to guess which one is which. Today is the last day for free shipping when you add two limited edition gift sets to your cart at Beautycounter!

Creamed Greens

This dinner was great – seared-then-baked salmon with a creamy kale and white beans saute. I am all about the cream cheese greens these days! This was our second one in a few weeks.

Also, cleaning the induction cooktop is a DREAM. It makes up for 95% of the headaches we had in the beginning with our cookware. We are liking it fine now, and the cleaning process – omg is SUCH MUCH BETTER than cleaning under gas grates.

If you haven’t had Jeni’s Brambleberry Crisp ice cream, you are missing out. It’s our favorite of the year! The oat struesel inside – omg. Loved this quote on the lid!

That’s all I have for slice of life today!
