Chennai: Change in lifestyle is crucial for people to lead a healthy life, the Chief Justice of the Madras high court, Munishwarnath Bhandari, has said.
Addressing a gathering after inaugurating a multi-speciality cancer detection center set up by RYA Madras Cosmo Foundation at Ayanavaram, the Chief Justice said people were influenced by western culture to the extent that cancer has become a common disease and that there is an increasing demand for dialysis and cancer care.
“There is a need to follow a healthy lifestyle to keep these illnesses away. The rituals of fastings and early meals in the evening should be linked with scientific significance as these habits can help in easy digestion and healthy lifestyle. All religions have a system of fasting, ”he said.
The chief justice lauded the foundation for its dedication in providing medical services. Sprawling over 7,000sqft, the center will have a panel of doctors specializing in early detection of cancer along with well-equipped dental care and nine-bedded dialysis center.
The dialysis center will provide services at a subsidized cost of ₹ 500, said a spokesman for the foundation. The center will also provide dental services and cancer detection services at affordable cost to the public, he said.
