My Current Morning Skincare Routine • Kath Eats

I’m sharing my morning skincare routine, step-by-step. Plus, all of my favorite clean beauty products are currently 15% off, and you can save up to 25% when you stock up!

In my “mature years,” I’m committed to seriously taking care of my skin. At first glance my routine might seem like a lot of products, but it only takes me two minutes to apply them all, and they each serve a purpose (Cleanse / Prep / Treat / Protect). Read this post if you want to learn more about how to apply skincare in the right order.

As my esthetician reminds me, consistency is key for making improvements with your skin… consistency is the secret to almost everything, isn’t it!?

Here’s my current post-shower lineup (you can check out my evening/PM skincare routine here):

My Morning Skincare Routine

(aka whenever I take my first shower)

Countermatch Foaming Cleanser

The Countermatch Foaming Cleanser is a basic staple I recommend for combination skin, and one I use myself. I think it smells like an almond cookie. For whatever reason, I’ve been enjoying this more lately than the cleansing oil, I think because it’s a bit more shower-friendly! And it works great with the new exfoliating polish!

Two toners!? Yes, two. But really only one is necessary! I don’t use them both every day, but I always use the Essence. Not only is it the first step on a clean face, but I think it is the most important for those with dry skin (like me!).

Countertime Mineral Boost Hydrating Essence

This is my favorite product of the entire Countertime collection! I’ve always had a love for toners and this is seriously the best toner I’ve ever tried. Although it’s not technically a toner – it’s an essence that “lends vital nutrients to the skin’s moisture barrier instantly boosting hydration and radiance.” It’s just thick enough that when you sprinkle it into your hands, it doesn’t fall through your fingers, making patting it on your face after cleansing easy.

All Bright Triple Acid AHA Toner

I use this toner a couple times per week after the essence. It’s made with a blend of AHAs, beta hydroxy acid, kombucha, and niacinamide to gently exfoliate skin and help stimulate cell turnover. It’s also pore refining, helping to improve and minimize the appearance of pores. My goal with adding this is to smooth the evenness of my skin over time.

Countertime Tripeptide Radiance Serum

This is where the magic happens. The serum’s goal is to increase skin firmness and elasticity (yes!) while reducing fine lines (yes!) via a powerful blend of peptides, amino acids and the Retinatural heroes. It goes on so smoothly – almost like a gel – and smells delicious, lightly of flowers. I use this every other day and rotate in the All Bright C Serum on opposite days.

All Bright C Serum

This is the daytime friend of the fan favorite Overnight Resurfacing Peel, and it’s designed to brighten and even out skin tone. Not only does it work to fade brown spots and hyperpigmentation, but it actually inhibits melanin synthesis prevent dark spots from appearing. Vitamin C can degrade quickly in beauty products, and Beautycounter has been working for years to develop this combination of two forms of vitamin C in a super stable formulation that actually delivers results.

Countermatch Adaptive Moisture Lotion

An all-star Beautycounter product, this lightweight moisturizer is one I’ve been reaching for in place of the Countertime Antioxidant Soft Cream (it’s less expensive as a bonus, too!). I love that it’s thin and absorbs easily (because I add a couple other protective products, too), but provides lasting hydration. Thomas and I both use it, so we go through it pretty quickly.

Countersun Daily Sheer Defense SPF 25

I always apply a layer of this face sunscreen before my tinted moisturizer in the warmer months since I spend a ton of time outside. You can never apply too much sun protection, in my opinion. It layers seamlessly and doesn’t leave a white cast. And it’s not greasy at all under makeup.

Dew Skin Tinted Moisturizer with SPF

This is the start of my makeup routine since it has some tinted color, but I also consider it the end of skincare because of the extra layer of moisturizer and SPF! I wear shade no. 3 for reference. It gives the perfect light coverage that soaks in well and, unlike foundations, doesn’t feel like you have any makeup on your face.

If I’m running out the door to the gym (yes I put something on before the gym!) or hoping on Zoom calls while I work from home, I might also add on top of my Dew Skin: a swipe of concealer under my eyes, some cream blush for color (the shade Cider gives the perfect “flush ” without looking too pink, and add a bit of lip gloss to feel complete!
